Say Goodbye to Dental Anxiety with Sedation Dentistry
Stay calm and relaxed during your dental visits

General & Family DentistOptions for Dental Anxiety Relief

We understand that many patients suffer from varying degrees of dental anxiety before or during their visit. If you have a hard time getting numb or feel stressed and anxious about your dental visits, let us introduce you to some of our sedation dentistry options. We perform many procedures under local anesthesia so the patient does not feel any pain or discomfort during treatment. Dr. Lauren Wilburn may also recommend nitrous oxide gas as part of the treatment plan to induce a deeper level of sedation.

Local Anesthetic

Injecting anesthetic can be a very effective way to selectively numb certain parts of the mouth. We perform many of our procedures under local anesthesia because this is a convenient and economical way to numb the patient. The numbing effect typically lasts for several hours.

“Great dentist! My child needed a tooth pulled and we came in and were greeted by the receptionist with a smile. They called my little girl back within 10 minutes. Just shortly later, I was met by the dentist and my child both smiling with one less tooth. What a great dental experience. My child was happy and so was I, thank you.”Chris P.

Nitrous Oxide

Inhaling nitrous oxide, an odorless gas, for a few minutes before a procedure can be a very effective way to sedate a patient. Nitrous oxide can create feelings of euphoria and a tingling sensation in most patients, putting them into a very relaxed state of mind for as long as the gas is released into the body.

We control the depth of sedation and the patient returns to normal within a few minutes after the gas is turned off. Since there are no other sedatives involved, the patient can even drive themselves home shortly after their appointment. We have found nitrous oxide to be a very effective way to manage dental anxiety.
